Sazigyo binding ribbon, Burma, dated 1261 (1899) |

Beautiful sazigyo made of undyed and red yarn, dated 1261.
The binding tape is lavishly decorated. Please see the fine example of a dagundaing in red and white (compare with Issacs, pp. 198 and 199), what is the last of every sazigyo, before thagyamin, the king of the nats, bells and the year of making.
Loop and cord are in excellent condition.
Risers and fallers with special “Christmas tree” decoration.
At the beginning of the tape one can read the initial invocation “zeyatu” enclosed between two lion beasts.
Apart from slightly faded colours our 120 years old sazigyo is in rare good condition.
